I was born and raised in a small town just south of Austin, Texas.  My parents are divorced and I always lived with my mom, unless I was staying at Grandma’s who was never far away.  I see my dad when either of us aren’t too busy..I guess that’s how that works.  Both of my parents remarried years ago and I have a sister who’s ten year’s younger on my mom’s side.  We’re complete opposites, she’s the tomboy and I’m as girly as it gets!  Family is the most important thing in the world to me and I love being so close to everyone.

Among other things, I enjoy staying busy.  I attend Austin Community College as a Human Services Major.  It’s a very broad major and similar to social services.  It covers everything from interpreters, to therapists, to LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors).  I don’t know where I’m going with it yet, but I like that I have options.  I was an Elementary Education Major and I loved working with kids, but there were some cons to it.  I would prefer not to teach in public schools at least until I don’t have to teach to standardized tests and there isn’t much freedom when it comes to teaching, for example field trips and other hands on methods are limited.  I’d still love to work with kids, but maybe not teaching.  I also work part time at one of the local Goodwills and I love working for a non-profit organization.  There are a lot of opportunities to move up once I have my degree.  The hardest part of each day is to remember the mission and sell it, but I really feel like this is my way of giving back to the community.

When I’m not bombarded with class assignments, field work, and I get a day off from work I love getting out of the house.  It usually consists of seeing the latest movie and a bite to eat before hand.  My favorite thing to do is to try new foods every chance I get.  I’m always looking for new recommendations for yummy restaurants.  I also like going to concerts whenever I can.  I love all kinds of music and it really puts me at peace, plus it’s a good chance to get together with friends.

I’m usually somewhat high maintenance and I’m really not a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl.  If I could go everywhere made up in a ball gown I would.  Not many people know that, but it’s a fact.  I love fashion, decorating, organizing, and coordinating it alltogether whether I’m deciding what to wear that day or I get to redecorate the living room from scratch.  I’m not picky, I just know what I want and never see the need to settle.
